El Chalten to Villa O'Higgins Crossing

During the booking process, you'll need to select the direction for the route:
Argentina - Chile (South to North) Direction
At the selected time, you'll need to go to the dock at the southern tip of Lago del Desierto, approximately 22 mi (37 km) from El Chaltén. Once you arrive at the meeting point, you'll board a boat and sail for 1 hour on its waters while enjoying the beautiful views.
Throughout the journey, you'll have a unique perspective of the north face of Fitz Roy and the Huemul Glacier. You won't stop taking photos! Upon arrival at the northern tip, you'll complete the formalities to leave Argentina and cross the border into Chile. Now you can enjoy Villa O'Higgins at your leisure!
Schedule: this option operates at 10 am and 4 pm
Chile - Argentina (North to South) Direction
If you choose this option, you'll need to go to the northern end of the Lago del Desierto dock to make the return trip. This way, you'll cross the border into Argentina, enjoying the boat ride across Lago del Desierto until you reach the southern end 1 hour later.
Schedule: this option operates at 11 am and at 5 pm
Route With Bike
During the booking process, you can choose to reserve the option of crossing from El Chaltén to Villa O'Higgins in both directions by bicycle. In this case, you'll need to rent your own bicycle in El Chaltén for the crossing. This way, upon reaching either the northern or southern end of the mountain range, you can use your bicycle to explore the incredible landscapes of Villa O'Higgins or El Chaltén by bike. You'll enjoy one of the most legendary and spectacular cycling routes in Patagonia!
